For hours of fun this school holidays, try this PLAY DOUGH recipe. A child as old as twelve can still enjoy getting his hands messy with play dough! Brighten it up with light conversation between you and your child. It is easy to prepare, keeps for weeks and costs a fraction of the ones you buy outside.
What You Need:
200g plain flour
100g salt
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 tablespoon cooking oil
300ml water
A few drops of colouring (optional)
Mix flour, salt and cream of tartar. Add oil, water and colouring gradually. Place pot over medium fire and stir. At first nothing seems to happen but mixture will thicken suddenly. Continue stirring until mixture turns into one big lump. Remove from fire. Refrain from using for at least 15 minutes. The dough may seem cool to the touch on the outside but is still very hot on the inside. To cool it faster, cut into smaller pieces with a knife.
