PROFILE OF MENTORS:
Faridah Zainuddin
Facilitator . Speaker . Trainer . Social entrepreneur
Faridah has twenty-three years experience in the corporate sector in the area of project management, business & product development, sales & marketing, strategic & corporate planning, research (including market research) and event management across several industries namely telecommunications, leisure & hospitality, IT & Consulting, banking and stockbroking. She is currently the Head of Entrepreneur Development in one of the GLCs in the telecommunications sector. Faridah did her Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and MBA in the United States. She had also enrolled in the Entrepreneurship Program with Malaysian Institute of Management.
Faridah has been invited as guest speaker to talk on business opportunities and entrepreneurship on various engagements by banks, GLCs, Universities, NGOs, etc. She has also participated in Labs organized by Ministries and Agencies to develop policies and strategic plan at the national level. She has also sat on various panels to evaluate business proposals and judge pitchers from entrepreneurs.
Very passionate about entrepreneurship particularly nurturing and coaching startups and budding entrepreneurs to achieve their full potential and succeed in their endeavours. Had personally ventured into 3 businesses namely bringing indigenous crafts / products to the export market, food & beverage and leisure & hospitality. Social entrepreneurship is Faridah’s latest passion. She is actively pursuing a project at the moment which she hopes to take off ground very soon.
Having worked mostly with entrepreneurs who are more senior in age, she firmly believes that entrepreneurship must be inculcated from young. It helps to stimulate and develop both the right and left brain functions of a child. She tries to walk-the-talk with her own 11-year old girl by coaching her and getting her interested in the world of entrepreneurship from a very early age. In her journey, she finds there’s a void in entrepreneurship programs for the youngsters especially here in Malaysia. Like all mothers, one of the things she dreads most is seeing her daughter spending too much unproductive time in the social media. Out of these pains was how the idea of Kids@Biz came about.
