We are often reminded how important it is for us to speak our mind out loud, to be able to express ourselves eloquently in front of a crowd, to get our ideas across with clarity, to get noticed. Let not this idea make us forget those amongst us who don’t speak much, but whose actions are no less powerful or meaningful to us. I am particularly thinking of my late father, a very quiet man who hardly spoke. Yet his gentle ways taught me so many things that the spoken word could never have. Let us not be blind to the power of gentleness that can shake the world.
