Conflict occurs when your child’s perspective is different from yours. You want him to wear sneakers to a wedding, he wants flip-flops. You want him to read novels, he insists on comics. The next time you disagree, ask yourself “Is this something worth arguing about?” Be clear on fundamentals, though. Fundamentals are principles you and your family live by. Everyone in your family must be clear about these principles, too, so your child knows which areas he can have his way and which areas he can’t. ~ Jamilah Samian
